AC Milan footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic could not hold back tears during a press conference about his service with Sweden when he was recalled to the national squad after five years in retirement. The 39 -year -old had previously ended his international career after Euro 2016and played in the final match of the tournament for Sweden.
However, following an impressive performance at AC Milan, Ibrahimovic’s services are needed back to the squad for World Cup qualification this week. During a press conference on Monday, the talented striker shed tears when told that his 12 -year -old son was upset that he was going away.
“Vincent cried when I left him,” said Ibrahimovic.
The footballer has two sons with partner Helena Seger. His two sons are 14-year-old Maximilian and 12-year-old Vincent.
Following his return to the Swedish squad, Ibrahimovic will feature in the qualifiers against Georgia, Kosovo, and Estonia this week.
“To play in the national team is the biggest thing you can do as a football player, and as I was following them (Sweden), inside me I was feeling I think I can help them, I think I can do something,” he said.
“I’ve got the opportunity now to play for my country and I do it with honor, but it’s not only about that – it sounds like I’m only happy to be here, but I’m here to get results, to bring results for the coach and my team-mates and the whole country.
“As much as I talk here, if I don’t bring results, here it means nothing,” added Ibrahimovic.
