KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Police detained a local man with 5.70 kilogrammes of syabu worth RM201,960 at a condominium in Jalan Kuching here last Monday.
Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) ACP Adnan Azizon said the 39-year-old suspect was nabbed at the roadside of Jalan Sri Utara Kepong in a Mercedes Benz by an NCID team at about 4 pm.
He said as a result of interrogation, the suspect led the police to his condominium and the discovery of the syabu, all of which are estimated to be used by 5,660 drug addicts.
“Investigations found that the suspect rented the condominium unit for eight months with a monthly rental of RM1,800 to store the drugs. Police also seized a Mitsubishi Triton and RM10,000 in cash.
“The suspect’s urine test came back negative for drugs, and he did not have a prior criminal record,” he said in a statement today.
Adnan said that the suspect is being remanded for seven days under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“The police believe they have crippled a drug trafficking ring masterminded by locals which have been active for three months around the Klang Valley.
