KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — Malaysia today recorded 19,819 new COVID-19 cases, the highest since the pandemic hit the country early last year, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a posting on his Facebook page, he said the figure showed an increase of 2,714 cases compared to 17,105 cases yesterday.
The latest development takes the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 1,183,110.
Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor still recorded the highest daily tally at 8,377 followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,467); Kedah (1,371); Johor (1,162); Kelantan (1,003) and Sabah (949).
Penang recorded 867 cases; Negeri Sembilan (800); Perak (662); Pahang (558); Sarawak (552); Melaka (508); Terengganu (481); Putrajaya (46); Perlis (11) and Labuan (five).
