A video shows 27-year-old woman bows and kneels to her brother during a graduation day has gone viral in Thailand recently.

Around this time, many universities are holding a graduation ceremony to commemorate every graduate that successfully ended their studies. It’s an auspicious and tearful day since all their hard work is paid off.

Everyone has a story to tell. And not everything begins or ends beautifully. However, that’s what life is. There’s always a silver lining to every cloud. Everything is temporary.

A graduation ceremony wouldn’t be complete without the presence of someone special in our lives. This 27-year-old Thai woman has shown through her TikTok posts that her relationship with her brother is definitely heart-warming.

It should be her special day, but Ying Chanita dedicated her graduation ceremony by paying gratitude to her brother.

Kneeling and bowing is a forms of respect

In the video, Chanita is bowing at her brother after putting the graduation gown on him.

She was also pressing both her hands together or ‘wai‘, another way of respecting someone older than her. Chanita then bows to her brother’s feet as a sign of gratitude. This gesture is called ‘krap thao‘ and is significant in portraying deep respect for someone.

Then, her brother gently taps the crown of her head. It’s kind of giving her his blessings, similar to when we greet our parents during Eid, Chinese New Year or Deepavali Celebration in Malaysia.

She wrote in her caption, “Thank you to this guy [her brother] who sacrificed everything for his sister [Chanita].”

He quit school so that Chanita could continue her studies

Chanita and her brother grew up in a poor environment. Their mother was a rubber taper. Therefore, she couldn’t support both of her children simultaneously.

Chanita’s brother wanted her to pursue her education. Hence, he quit school so that he could help Chanita with the fees and lessen the family’s burden.

Even though her graduation was supposed to be in 2018 but was postponed due to the pandemic, the excitement still lingers in her. And to celebrate this glorious day with someone that has helped her through thick and thin: nothing can compare to this heartwarming moment.

Congratulations to Chanita on graduating! We hope her story inspires many people to appreciate and love everyone near and dear to them.
