Saudi Arabia Open Hajj Registration For Foreign Residents

It was announced by Saudi Arabia that starting on Monday, they have opened hajj’s registration for foreign residents in the kingdom through its website from July 6 to 10.

From the total of 10,000 pilgrims that were allowed, the foreign residents will make up to 70 percent of the pilgrims.

For the remaining 30 percent of the pilgrims, it will be made up of Saudi citizens. Among the Saudis that were allowed to perform the hajj are medical and security personnel who have recovered from COVID-19.

“They will be selected through the database of those who have recovered from the virus,” said the hajj ministry in a statement.

As for the foreign residents that age between 20 to 65 who are not suffering from any chronic diseases like diabetes or health conditions are allowed to register on (localhaj.haj.gov.sa).

The results of the hajj registrations will be announced on Sunday (July 12).

Before arriving in the holy city of Mecca, the pilgrims will be tested for COVID-19. Then after the ritual, they are required to quarantine at home for 14 days.

Saudi Arabia has announce last month that they would hold a very limited hajj. It is said that the decision was fraught with political and economic peril while Saudi Arabia still battling COVID-19.

It is reported that Saudi Arabia has more than 215,000 COVID-19 cases and around 2,017 death.
