A whole family was rushed to the hospital after mixing a large packet of cannabis in their curry.
One of the victims is believed to have bought the banned substance after it was allegedly a mixture of halba, sauté potatoes in garlic, and herbs and it is said to be suitable for making curry called Aloo-methi.
Police in Kannauj, India, say they bought the material from a man named Nawal, a neighbor of one of the victims named Nitesh.
Nawal allegedly gave it to his sister-in-law. She then accidentally inserted a bag of ingredients into a curry dish before enjoying it with six other family members.
Those six families are Nitesh, his elderly dad Om Prakash, and siblings Manoj, Kamlesh, Arti, and Pinki.
The family began to notice the effect within several hours after eating the curry. Luckily, they managed to tell the neighbors before getting unconscious.
Later, the medical team arrived at the residence before taking them to the hospital. All victims are now in stable condition after receiving treatment.
“We have seized the weed, besides the curry from the house of Om Prakash and sent samples of the same for laboratory test,” said local police, Nagendra Kumar Pathak.
“During interrogation, the accused Nawal confessed that it was a prank he played on Nitesh. The family is out of danger and further investigations are underway,” added the local police.
