World’s Tallest Swing of A 30-Storey Building Opens On The Edge of Chinese Cliff

China, a scenic spot has opened the world’s tallest swing which perches on the edge of a 2.300-foot-tall cliff. Pictures show thrill-seekers screaming as they were bound to a harness horizontally and flung out at a top speed of 80mph at its grand opening today.

The ride reaches 328 feet tall, roughly the equivalent of a 30-story building.

The ride has been certified by the Guinness World Records as the ‘tallest swing frame’ in the world after beating the last recorder-holder, B!g Rush located in South Africa, by 40 feet.

The swing can catapult tourists over the cliff at a top speed of 80 miles per hour, according to engineers at Yunyang Longgang Scenic Spot.

The terrifying ride was completed late last year and meant to open to the public early this year. However, the grand opening was delayed by the pandemic and the lockdown.

The grand opening has been delayed cause of the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent lockdown. As part of the Yunyang Longgang Scenic Spot, the gigantic swing consists of a 328-foot-tall arch and a 354-foot-tall launching tower and is situated at an altitude of 3,608 feet. The ‘rocking chair’ is connected to the arch by two cables which are also said to be 354 feet long.

Tourists will be bound to the harness side by side horizontally before taking the white-knuckle ride.

The swing could reach a maximum angle of 9- degrees above the ground or 230 feet from the edge of the cliff said head engineer Shi Xuebin.

‘Tourists must wear safety clothes certified by the European Union. And in order to provide them with extra protection, we have added tailor-made safety belts on the outside of the clothes,’ Mr. Shi said.
