If we talk about childhood memories, we can be sure that Doraemon must be included. The robotic cat attracts the world’s attention with its story of a time-traveling from the past into the future. We already know the famous story of Doraemon being Nobita’s best friend.
The world-famous character has also been appointed as the nation’s first anime ambassador by Japan’s Foreign Ministry. Doraemon also celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.
A new movie about this character, Stand by Me Doraemon 2 was scheduled to release on August 7. But due to Covid-19, the release of the movie has been delayed.
While waiting for the movie to be released, Universal Studios Japan has opened a new attraction themed after the upcoming movie. USJ is offering the visitors with their brand new XR ride that was completed under the supervision of the movie’s directors, Ryuichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki.
This virtual reality roller coaster gives riders to travel along with the original story that precedes the plot from the movie. As the riders are taking the ride, they will travel to the future to observe Nobita and Shizuka’s wedding. However, the adult Nobita steals the time machine from Doraemon and runs away from the wedding. Riders will chase him through the ride to bring him back.
Throughout the ride, riders will feel a lot of different sensations such as wind and heat. Riders also need to wear special goggles to experience virtual reality.
The ride will only be opened until January 6.
