TUARAN, Aug 4 — A motorcyclist died after being run over by a lorry at a three-way junction at Jalan Pendamai 1, Jalan Tuaran – Kota Belud at 10.50 am, yesterday.
Tuaran district police chief DSP Mohd Hamizi Halim said in the 10.50 am incident, the 17-year-old victim died due to severe head and body injuries.
Initial investigation at the scene found that the 60-year-old lorry driver was driving from Tuaran while the motorcyclist was coming from the same direction heading to Gayang (Horse roundabout).
“Upon reaching the scene, the lorry driver tried to make a U-turn at the end of the road divider to turn right towards Tenghilan.
“The motorcyclist was heading towards the entrance of the Horse roundabout and did not have time to avoid the lorry and collided with it and was dragged under the vehicle,” he said in a statement, here, today.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
