Sonja lee, a mother of two, spotted a harsh eviction notice from her landlord on the front door of her apartment in Houston, Texas.
On the note, it featured a smiling emoji face, which waved and a question asked: “Guess who’s moving? YOU”.
The later continued:
“Pay your outstanding balance or release your apartment and turn in your keys to the leasing office by 6 PM today.
“Eviction will be filed promptly Thursday morning (8/18/2020).”
She was then understandably upset by the notice, and tweeted to complain:
“So y’all think it’s funny to antagonize the person that’s going through financial hardship with putting an emoji stating, ‘Guess who’s moving today?’ There was nothing funny about that.”
The woman had just lost her job and has a problem with her finances. She was let go from her position at a local food chain back in March and was unable to receive unemployment benefits after.
While she was arranging for paying rent, Sonja reached out to her landlord expecting a sympathetic reply, instead, was served an eviction notice after failing to pay her landlord in June and July.
After she tweeted about it, the tweet went viral on social media and her luck started to change.
Many users felt sorry for her situation and understand when people have been struggling to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic.
Some people started fundraising for her and now has gained more than £25,000 to support the family. There is also other good news which she then also has landed a new job.
