‘Aims To Reduce Cases To Between 1,000 – 500 A Day’ – MOH

Ministry Of Health (MOH) has posted on their official Facebook post that their aim is wanted to reduce the number of positive COVID-19 daily cases in Malaysia to between 1,000 – 500 a day.

They really hope that this current MCO would help them to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases effectively. MOH has stated in their Facebook post:

“MOH aims to reduce cases to between 1,000 – 500 a day. Efforts to re-measure the curve of the COVID19 infection graph in the country are expected to be successful in May or June,” the statement said.

“At the same time, the Movement Control Order (MCO) should not be too long because it has a negative impact on the national economy.

“Flattering the curvature of the graph or flattening the curve means that the transmission of the infection is successfully fully controlled with fewer cases of new infections,” added MOH.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Dr. Noor Hisham explained that this two-week period is very important to prevent cases from escalating further.

He said the MOH aims to reduce cases from an average of 2,000 a day to at least 500 a day.

However, a period of 4 weeks may be needed to achieve the target and hopes there is no need to extend it further.

Therefore, the MOH expects the cooperation of all to sit at home and if necessary to go out to work, fully comply with the SOP and preventive measures.

By limiting movement, efforts to break the chain of infection will be successful. If a new case is successfully brought down, movement control is still needed possibly by CMCO to land the curve.
