(Video) This McDonald’s Ad For Ramadan Definitely Make Many of Us Shed Tears

Recently, McDonald’s Singapore has decided to release a particular advertisement that is so relatable and also heartbreaking for many netizens all over the world who are currently fighting this COVID-19 Pandemic situation. The particular advertisements really highlight its Malaysian workers who are unable to reunite with loved ones during Ramadan are tugging hearts online.

The advertisement got released in conjunction with the holy fasting month for Muslims, focuses on the chain’s Singapore-based Malaysian workers separated from their family due to Covid-19 that necessitated border closures. According to McDonald’s Singapore, the video was created to promote its new initiative: My Happy Table. More information on My Happy Table will be revealed in the coming days.

McDonald’s Singapore wrote on its official YouTube channel, “During Ramadan, it is customary for Muslim families to sit around the same table and breakfast together”. The advertisements started with the story of Samsuri who is a Malaysian man who is working in Singapore as a McDonald’s delivery rider. He explains that this year’s Ramadan is very different for him as he is alone and all his family members including seven siblings, a wife, and a daughter who is turning two years old soon are in Malaysia. He also added, he was supposed to be in Singapore for only two weeks.

Samsuri said that in Singapore, he has close friends who are in the same situation as him. He added that they would always give words of encouragement to one another. They are Rozaini and Anas who both are working in Singapore for longer than Samsuri.

In the video, Rozaini shares that if she could go back to Malaysia, she would just want to hug her family. She added, “Three months here feels like I haven’t met them in three years”. She explained that her responsibility to work and earn for her family is more important, and so she has to push through.

Then, the scene switches to all the three Malaysians sitting inside a room in front of a table that ‘reunites’ them with their families here. The seamless digital transition makes it look like they are all sitting across a single large table in the same room. The realness of the scene makes everyone in the video tearfully joyous.
