Tips For Cat Owners, Eliminate Fleas On Cats By Just Using These Home Remedies

Fleas are a common health disorder experienced by cats. However, do not worry, because there are many ways to get rid of fleas on your pet cat. In the current era, there are many flea extermination products on cats in the form of sprays, special collar powders that are capable of exterminating fleas.

Although cat flea exterminator products sold in the market are able to repel fleas, there are also some natural remedies that are also able to exterminate fleas, which you can even make yourself at home.

However, before applying a self-made cat flea remedy, it is best to seek the advice of a veterinarian first, who better understands and knows the best solution for treating your cat. According to The Spruce Pets, here are some natural ingredients that can be used as a remedy to eradicate cat fleas.

1. Lemon

One of the most effective natural flea killers is citric acid which can be found in lemons. This makes lemon water a widely recognized remedy for eradicating lice. You spray your cat’s fur with a solution made by boiling one or two slices of lemon. Let the lemon soak for a few hours and then drain the liquid before transferring it to a spray bottle.

Apply the solution gently to your cat’s fur, making sure to avoid eye contact. Also monitor if the cat is experiencing redness or other signs of irritation on the skin, repeat this activity as often as needed until the fleas are completely gone. If your cat doesn’t like water, you can also try using a comb dipped in the lemon solution and combing fleas. If you’re worried about flea residue and flea eggs, add a cup of lemon water to your laundry when washing a pet’s bedding to help eradicate the remaining fleas.

2. Spices

One of the easiest things you can do for a cat that has fleas is to treat it with natural ingredients found in the kitchen. Because it contains a natural compound known as carvacrol, oregano oil is very effective in getting rid of lice. Start by mixing one teaspoon of oregano oil with three teaspoons of olive oil. Then, apply a small amount of the solution to areas where fleas tend to gather, such as your cat’s ears, stomach, tail, and neck. Lice can also be eradicated with rosemary. Grind rosemary leaves into a powder and sprinkles on your cat’s favorite spot.

If the cat does not allow you to apply for topical medicine on the fur, you can try mixing a little or less than a teaspoon of cumin into the cat food. Cumin will make your cat’s skin very unattractive to fleas. If you don’t have this spice, a little salt can also help as it can help dry out and kill fleas on cats. Salt works to kill fleas and flea eggs that may be hiding in the carpet. Simply sprinkle salt on it or when mixed with water, it can be used to treat hard surfaces.

3. Apple cider vinegar

Another product that fleas do not like is apple cider vinegar. Although not effective at killing insects, apple cider vinegar can cause fleas to jump off a cat’s body, so you can deal with the problem better. Mix apple cider vinegar with water in a 2: 1 ratio and spray on your cat’s fur. Fleas can be a stubborn group so you may have to do this several times by rubbing vinegar into the cat’s fur to be completely free of flea problems.

4. Dishwashing soap

Dishwashing soap with the gentlest formula has also been proven to be very effective in eradicating lice. Dishwashing soap destroys the outer skeleton of the flea and kills it in minutes, even after being diluted in water. Simply wet your cat’s fur with a spray and gently rub the dishwashing soap onto the fur (focus on areas that tend to be hidden by fleas) before rinsing.
