JDT Made It To The Malaysia Cup Final After Defeating Sabah In Semifinal

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) successfully made it to the Malaysian Cup Final. Last night at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, JDT defeated Sabah FC with an aggregate of 4-1.

Bergson Da Silva scored a goal in the 35th minute and Fernando Forestiera in the 41st minute. Besides that, Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad also scored a goal which overall made it a win for the Southern Tigers with a score of 3-1.

Before this, at the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, last Tuesday, the Southern Tigers managed to score 1-0. Nevertheless, last night’s game was more fierce than the previous as they managed to score more.

The first goal made by the Southern Tigers came from a Bergson. It was Bergon’s sixth in the Malaysia Cup campaign.

Not long after that, only after six minutes, another goal was made by Forestieri with help from Mohd Afiq Fazail. The ball by Afiq neatly landed At Arif Aiman Hanifi’s feet in the penalty box, which made it possible for Forestieri to score a goal.

Nevertheless, Sabah retaliated in the second half and, managed to score by Taiki Kagayama in the 47th minute. At the end of the match, JDT scored in injury time by Muhammad Syafiq.

JDT has won the Malaysian Cup twice before, in 2017 and 2019.
