The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, today agreed to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the tenth Prime Minister.
Through an Istana Negara media statement issued at 1.33 this afternoon, Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, said the ceremony of awarding the appointment documents and taking the oath of the Prime Minister will be held at 5 pm today.
“After refining the views of His Majesty the Malay Monarchs, Seri Paduka has given his consent to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also a Member of Parliament for Tambun,” he said.
Ahmad Fadil said that the appointment of Anwar, who is also the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) as Prime Minister, was made in accordance with Article 40(2)(a) and Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
“The next process is the Ceremony of Awarding the Deed of Appointment and the Ceremony of Taking the Oath of Office and Allegiance as well as the Oath of Secrecy as Prime Minister which is scheduled to take place at 5.00 pm today at Istana Negara.
