K-Dramas are the reigning supreme of the world’s entertainment industry nowadays. And recently, The King’s Affection (2021) won an award at the 50th International Emmy!
The romantic series locally known as Yeonmo was crowned Best Telenovela, defeating other strong competitors, including Nos Tempos do Imperador (2021) from Brazil, Two Lives (2021) from Spain, and You Are My Hero (2021) from China.

The head of KBS Drama centre, Lee Geon Joo, comments on the drama’s glorious achievement. “I’m so happy that The King’s Affection won the first-ever International Emmy as a Korean drama, and it’s a pleasure to have the potential of Korean dramas as a whole receive recognition.”
In addition, Lee states, “I feel an immense sense of responsibility during this time. K-content is receiving so much love around the world. We will do our best so that KBS dramas can play a vital role in maintaining the potential of Korean [entertainment] content.”
The King’s Affection (2021) received multiple awards before the International Emmy
The KBS drama has won multiple awards, including the International Competition Award at the 17th Seoul Drama Awards. Not only that, the lead actress, Park Eun Bin, also won the Best Actor Award at the 49th Korea Broadcasting Awards.
This drama has captured the hearts of many people locally and globally. Thus, this gives them the right to win this prestigious award!
The King’s Affection (2022), or Yeonmo, with lead stars Park Eun Bin and SF9’s Rowoon, tells a story about a fictional princess of the Joseon era (1392-1910). She keeps her identity a secret to assume the throne on behalf of her deceased twin brother. It’s adapted from the popular webtoon under the same name.
Many fans from around the globe rejoice in the drama’s win across various social media platforms. It’s indeed an achievement we should be proud of!
