So, what actually is an Oud? For those of you who don’t know, an Oud or agarwood is a piece of wood that people consider as one of the most expensive fragrance ingredients in the world.

Distilling the wood or melting the resin produces the essential oil which fragrances uses. People also burn the Oud wood which can release an aromatic smell around the house.

It is also known as the “five thousand dollar per pound scent”. Forbes reported that Oud can go upwards to RM22,900 per pound. It is also evaluated to cost one-and-a-half times the value of gold.

Furthermore, the Oud is traced back into ancient times and is written in many scriptures of different cultures.

It is amazing how Qatar is able to give such an expensive item to everyone. It truly shows their great hospitality!
