Are you ready to embark on another magical journey with Disney’s newest live-action adaptation, Peter Pan & Wendy? We sure are!
For the lovers of Peter Pan and Wendy, a fictional story created by the Scottish Novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie, the highly-anticipated film is coming your way very soon!
A sneak peek of the film’s synopsis
The Green Knight‘s director, David Lowery, reimagines the fantastical childhood story with a breath of freshness in the characters Peter Pan, Wendy and Captain Hook.
From the trailer released earlier today, the sighting of young Wendy (Ever Anderson) and her brothers found a way to Neverland has already caught our attention.
The Lost Boys (not all boys, though), a group led by Peter Pan (Alexander Molony), will face many obstacles with pirates and mystical creatures coming their way.
However, the tension boils over when Captain Hook (Jude Law) interrupts their ideal ‘happy ever after’.
What makes the movie more enthralling is we’re going to see Tinkerbell played by Yara Shahidi, on the big screen for the first time! She looks as mesmerising as what we see in the animated film.
Lowery on Peter Pan & Wendy
As the writer/director of Pete’s Dragon (2016) reboot and The Green Knight (2021), Lowery challenged himself with his newest piece. The movie promises a more satirical and exciting interpretation of Barrie’s original novel.
He explained, “In making this adaptation, we set out to craft a film that honours both the original J. M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaption.”
Furthermore, Lowery wishes the movie would illustrate their ’emotional sincerity’ and pull the audience into a memorable adventure. In simpler words, the film aims to relive those innocent childhood memories and kindle the lively spirit we once had.
The wait isn’t long
The movie will soon greet you on Disney+ this 28 April. Despite not being shown in cinemas, Peter Pan & Wendy can potentially follow in the footsteps of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The second movie debuted on Disney+ and became the highest-viewed premiere for a Marvel film! It’s highly likely Lowery’s ‘Lost Boys’ will follow suit!
With breathtaking cinematography and a compelling script, Lowery’s rendition of Peter Pan & Wendy will make you refuse to grow up!
