Sacoor Brothers & Sacoor Blue – Proud Sponsors of Buvazoi Tavantang Kaamatan, MRK 2024

Sacoor Brothers and Sacoor Blue are proud to announce their official sponsorship of the Buvazoi Tavantang Kaamatan, MRK 2024. MRK, also known in the Kadazan dialect as Buvazoi Tavantang, is the male cultural pageant equivalent to the renowned women’s Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan pageant.

Kaamatan, or Pesta Kaamatan, translates to Harvest Festival and is a cherished tradition woven into the fabric of Sabah’s identity. Celebrated throughout May, this month-long festival culminates in two days of thanksgiving, feasting, and renewing communal bonds. Representatives from various districts proudly don traditional attire, symbolising Sabah’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

Since its inception in 2008, MRK has aimed to promote the unique culture, customs, and traditional costumes of the Kadazandusun society, sharing the same mission and vision as the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan pageant. Besides preserving culture, language, and traditional attire, MRK serves as a platform for finalists to showcase their talents. Many past contestants have gone on to successful careers in the creative industry.

The 49 finalists of Buvazoi Tavantang Kaamatan dressed in Sacoor Brothers and Sacoor Blue

For the first time in its history, MRK collaborated with Imago Shopping Mall to host a two-day showcase on May 24 and May 26, introducing its 49 finalists to the public. The first day featured a full presentation of all contestants, who walked individually, donning outfits from Sacoor Brothers and Sacoor Blue. The contestants later divided into two groups, one half showcasing Sacoor Brothers’ premium range and the other half displaying Sacoor Blue’s casual wear. This collaboration highlighted the versatility of both the contestants and the brands, presenting a range from suits to T-shirts and chinos.

Sacoor Brothers Showcase

This event marked MRK’s first collaboration with an international fashion brand, bringing a new level of versatility to the contest. The evening concluded with a talent show, where contestants performed choreographed dance routines in groups, with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Sacoor Blue Showcase

The second day, themed “A Night of Cultural Fashion” saw contestants walking the runway in custom-designed cultural wear. The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, recognising the top three designs, best catwalk, best model, and audience choice.

Sacoor Brothers and Sacoor Blue sponsored RM3,000 in cash vouchers for the Best Model and Audience Choice prizes, awarded to Inanam representative Inlo Ansim and Kota Kinabalu representative Alvin Ajirin, respectively.

For Sacoor Brothers and Sacoor Blue, this partnership is a proud opportunity to support an organisation dedicated to preserving and celebrating the enduring spirit of Sabah’s cultural heritage. These values resonate deeply with the brands, which also take pride in their own rich

culture and heritage. By supporting the Buvazoi Tavantang Kaamatan, they honour Sabah’s traditions while showcasing the elegance and versatility of their fashion lines.
