AirAsia Reunites Malaysians With Affordable Fixed Fares For The Upcoming Lunar New Year

AirAsia launched its highly anticipated fixed fares to reunite Malaysians for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration in January 2025.

Fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, or Sibu; or from Johor Bahru to Kuching, Sibu, or Miri, at only RM328 all-in one way, while the fixed fare for Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, or Sandakan, or from Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu is only RM388 all-in one way. Book between 3 December 2024 and 4 February 2025, travel from 24 January to 4 February 2025 to reunite with your loved ones.

AirAsia will operate a total of almost 3,600 flights weekly during the 2025 festive season, offering more than 27,000 seats at fixed fares.

Minister of Transport, YB Loke Siew Fook said: “The government remains committed to helping people reunite during festive periods. It is encouraging to see AirAsia leading efforts to make travel more affordable and accessible. This aligns with our ongoing initiatives, including the RM499** ceiling fare subsidy and the FLYsiswa programme to ease student financial burden to travel between Peninsular and East Malaysia. We look forward to collaborating with other industry partners on this initiative for the betterment of our nation.”

Dato’ Captain Fareh Mazputra, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia said: “As we approach the final month of 2024 and prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations, we are delighted to unveil our yearly fixed fares, with more than 27,000 seats available during the Chinese New Year period. We are proud to continue playing our role as an industry leader in supporting the government’s initiatives to ensure smooth and affordable travel for Malaysians, especially during the festive season.”

Additionally, AirAsia will also be supporting the government’s initiative of RM499** one-way economy class flights from Peninsular to East Malaysia. Under this promotion, base fares for selected flights will be available at a maximum of RM499** celling fares which are applicable for travels four (4) days before Christmas Day. This initiative is part of the airline’s commitment to supporting the government’s fare subsidy, promoting inclusivity and affordability during the festive season.

Guests travelling this festive season are strongly encouraged to self check-in via airasia.com or the AirAsia MOVE app, available up to 14 days prior to the departure date and use the e-Boarding Pass to board the flight. For a smooth and seamless travel experience, guests are advised to arrive early at the airport. Baggage drop counters open three (3) hours before departure for international flights, and two (2) hours prior for domestic services.

**Flights with base fares that cost less than RM499 will be sold at the current fare. Fares are non-refundable and subject to other terms and conditions. The government’s subsidy for purchases of one-way economy class tickets of over RM499 from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah and Sarawak. Applicable four (4) days before Christmas Day.
