Eco-Shop Ushers in Merdeka Spirit with Nationwide “Satu Senyuman, Seribu Makna” Campaign

Eco-Shop, Malaysia’s Leading Ultra Affordable Household Retailer, is calling on Malaysians to rediscover the beauty of a simple smile through its “Satu Senyuman, Seribu Makna” campaign, running from 4 August to 28 September 2025. In line with this year’s Merdeka theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,” the campaign reflects Eco-Shop’s commitment to care for and connect with the people it serves.

At the heart of this year’s Merdeka celebration is Che Sayang, the beloved homegrown chef and online personality known for his warm presence and down-to-earth charm. As campaign ambassador, Che Sayang embodies the spirit of togetherness and joy that Eco-Shop hopes to share with all Malaysians. This spirit is further amplified through Eco-Shop’s collaboration with The Budimas Charitable Foundation, whose long-standing mission to support underprivileged children aligns closely with the campaign’s purpose.

Jessica Ng, Chief Executive Officer of Eco-Shop Malaysia, shared, “This campaign is unlike anything we’ve done before. We wanted to create something that Malaysians can truly connect with. It’s not just about what we give, but how we make people feel. It goes beyond the usual promotions by creating shared experiences that feel authentic and inclusive.”

Through this partnership, Eco-Shop will extend its celebrations beyond the retail space, bringing joy to underprivileged groups through food, shared moments and acts of kindness. The highlight of this effort is the Biggest Jamuan Merdeka, a large-scale community gathering on Saturday, 20 September 2025, with underprivileged community from across Klang Valley for a meaningful meal in the spirit of unity. Adding a special touch to the occasion, Che Sayang will also personally prepare and serve the food to the children, with the aim of creating a warm and memorable experience for all.

Beyond the main event, Eco-Shop will also organise visits to charity homes across Malaysia with The Budimas Charitable Foundation, as well as a Merdeka-themed decoration contest at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ampang. These efforts reflect Eco-Shop’s broader mission to connect with Malaysians from all walks of life and make a lasting impact during the nation’s most meaningful celebration.

The celebration will also extend to all Eco-Shop outlets nationwide, where shoppers can look forward to a range of exclusive in-store promotions throughout the campaign period. With a minimum purchase of RM30 inclusive on one participating brands, customers will receive a free limited-edition Eco-Shop tote bag and a special opportunity to participate in the record-setting Jamuan Merdeka alongside Che Sayang. To further ignite the Merdeka spirit, stores will also feature patriotic touches where shoppers can bring home Malaysian flags for just RM2.00.

Satu Senyuman, Seribu Makna speaks to the idea that even the simplest gesture can hold deep meaning. Whether it’s sharing a meal, home visits, or decorating your classroom, these moments may seem small on their own, but together, they create something powerful. It’s our way of celebrating Merdeka – not just with flags and fanfare, but with real, human connection,” added Jessica.
