The Sinabung Volcano eruption located in North Sumatra, Indonesia last Monday (August 10, 2020) no longer affects air quality in Malaysia.

According to a media statement issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia), although previously the volcanic eruption was said to affect flight operations, it was reported to no longer affect air quality.

“News about the impact of Sinabung Volcano dust on air quality in Malaysia until this weekend is not true,” the statement wrote.

In this regard, MET Malaysia advises the public not to spread untrue information on this issue.

“People are advised to always be aware of the information released by the Malaysian Meteorological Department through the official website, myCuaca application and social media,” the department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has warned that the volcano is still active and may erupt from time to time.
