Indie games despite having shorter gameplay have their charm and some even possess higher quality than triple-A games. It is usually through small indie companies where new and interesting gaming concepts are explored.
‘From Scratch Studios’ released a demo of Etched Memories where you will play as a cat. You will control Biscuit, a tabby cat that is searching for his lost mother.
Biscuit at the beginning wakes up in the middle of a forest on a stormy night embarks on a journey to find his mother. In his adventure, he discovers items and documents about his past as part of the research. He also has to tiptoe around other creatures that will try to eat him. This trailer shows Biscuit crashing through windows, picking up clues, opening doors, and maneuvering a boat.
According to sources, both third and first-person perspectives are available. Players may choose their preferences.
The trailers show some images that are seemingly low-budget. But it is too early to speculate. Many low-budget indie games are fan-favorite such as Outlast and Stardew Valley. Even Minecraft started out from an indie company before being bought by Microsoft.
With the resurgence of horror titles, it would be interesting to see how it will do among other big-budget titles like Resident Evil: Village. Outlast had a huge success in the horror genre.
Hopefully, this year would be able to satisfy the demand for this genre. For now, Etched Memories does not have a release date yet, but a demo is now available on Steam.
