The Health Ministry before this has designated a total of 33 hospitals nationwide, to treat COVID-19 patients. With this, up to more than 3,000 beds will be available at normal wards and intensive care units to cater to those infected with the virus.
Latest, Tan Sri Muhyiddin in a press conference today also announced on the additional 3, 585 beds to accommodate covid’s patient.
“The government expects new cases to be recorded in the near future. Accordingly, MOH has made preparations including providing 3,585 beds at 34 hospitals nationwide to receive COVID-19 patients.
“Currently 34 percent of hospital bed capacity is used with the balance that can accommodate patients.
“In the event of an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 beyond hospital capacity, several areas have been identified to serve as centers of isolation and temporary quarantine,” he said.
