Crash Victims’ Demeanours Changed During Aidilfitri – Families

Menora Tunnel accident

KUALA KANGSAR, May 12 (Bernama) — Two of the five victims who died in the tragic accident near the Menora Tunnel here last night, had changed in their demeanours during Aidilfitri celebrations.

Yuzambree Ramlee Mohd Yunus, 46, an uncle of Ahmad Akmal Ahmad Mokhlis, 20, said his nephew became very quiet compared to his previously cheerful disposition.

He said he last met Ahmad Akmal five days ago before the Diploma in Islamic Counselling student returned to the Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) after Aildilfitri break.

“He was a good son,” he told reporters here today.

Meanwhile, Mohd Fikri Aidol Munir Akbar, 16, said his brother Muhammad Nasrun, 22, seemed to be sulking at not being able to celebrate Aidilfitri together with their family members on the morning of the first day of Syawal.

“My brother could not celebrate Aidilfitri with us that morning because the whole family was in Selangor and he was at our grandmother’s house in Batu Gajah.

“That evening when we arrived in Batu Gajah, he was very different. Before this, he was cheerful, and happy,” he said.

Ahmad Hafizan Abdul Rahman, 49, the father of Ahmad Naim Najmi Ahmad Hafizan, 21, said he accepted his son’s death.

In the midnight accident, five friends were killed when the car they were travelling in caught fire after a collision with two trailers at KM 245.2 of the North-South Expressway northbound near the Menora Tunnel.

The other two victims were Muhammad Nabil Haikal Muhammad Fariz, 19, and Iqbal Hasnun Halimi, 23.
