5 Reasons Why ‘The Sims 3’ Is Better Than ‘The Sims 4’!

It’s not an exaggeration to say that many people have experienced playing The Sims or have at least seen other people play it – or have AT LEAST heard of it. It’s been around for years and it could be the most well-known game of the decade.

During this pandemic, surely everyone needs something to pass their time with – usually with playing games. The Sims can be played casually without any sort of religious commitment. People love playing The Sims because, in a way, you get to visualize what kind of house you want, or what kind of life/relationships that you would like to have – like playing god in a make-believe world.

The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 has been in constant debate on which one is the better version. The Sims 4 is, obviously, an updated version of The Sims 3, with more work done and depth. But even so, there are still things that Sims 3 has that Sims 4 doesn’t, even with the new DLCs.

How They Compare

Customization

In The Sims 3, it had features that somehow did not end up in the Sims 4 – like the Create-A-Style.

The Sims 3 Create-A-Style is one of the best things about the game. The level of customisation is unreal!

The tools in this feature pretty much let the players customize almost everything about their Sim – in detail. Hair colours, patterns, fabrics to clothes and furniture, all the lot. This feature also had the colour wheel and pre-made patterns, and you could even download customs to add them in the game.

This customization is currently just in The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs DLC, where it can be applied to customize your cat or dog.

The Sims 4 has a color wheel, but only for use for designing pets in The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack.

Open World

The Sims 3 was the first and only game in the series that had a “open world.” The mechanic of the open-world enables players to travel around the world map, from residential to city, from home to home, without loading screens in between. For Simmers, who were used to waiting for loading screens between some kind of trip in The Sims 1 and Sims 2, it completely changed the gameplay.

Unfortunately, Sims 4 has taken the open world out of its title. There are “open” neighborhoods in the game with the concept that your Sims will walk and jog around the neighborhood, but you’ll find a loading screen if you go to the Sims’ house next door, too.

More Lots To Freely Place In Sims 3

Once again, in The Sims 3, since you can bring lots anywhere you want, you can have a world full of lots. Depending on the type of computer you have, I imagine your gameplay could suffer, but hey, there’s at least the option to have 170 lots in your universe, if you prefer.

There are very small batches of most of the Sims 4 maps. San Myshuno (City Living Expansion Pack) was the largest world to date with 30 lots, and Forgotten Hollow (from the Vampire Game Pack) was the smallest with just 5 lots.

Vehicles

When The Sims 2 introduced the capacity to own and drive a car in the game, we all must have recalled how innovative it was. This gameplay aspect has really developed in The Sims 3, enabling players to buy from a wide range of vehicles, create and decorate a garage, take driving lessons, go for a “spin,” repair a busted vehicle, and even have a “relationship” with your car.

It’s not even the lack of driving in The Sims 4 that’s odd; it’s the fact that, except for background décor, cars don’t exist at all.

You could customize the size of the car with cheat codes but you can never actually drive them in the game.

Has More Captivating Elements

The Sims 4 still has no daily things, such as crime (no burglars) or law enforcement jobs to go with them, no open world, no story development without mods made by players, only a few supernatural creatures (just aliens and vampires).

Most exciting thing about The Sims 4 is that it always has updates and new DLCs that we can download. Supposedly, it’s because something “new” introduced to the franchise was the Dine Out restaurants, and the amount of customization had really gotten most of us interested to keep on playing. But most of The Sims 4 still feel really “been there done that” and we start to feel like there’s not much else to do after a few hours of play.

The feeling still lingers, even with new DLC added to the game; because none of the new content adds to the items mentioned above, things that make The Sims 3 such a wonderful and unforgettable gameplay experience.
