Who remembers the coupling of these two talented actresses through the movie Crazy Rich Asian? However, legendary Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh and US actress Awkwafina do not have too many acting scenes together.

Through Crazy Rich Asians, Michelle is ‘busy’ with the issue of her son (Henry Golding) marrying a normal girl (Constance Wu) while Awkwafina is directed to help her best friend (Constance Wu) win the heart of her future mother-in-law (Michelle).

However, Michelle and Awkwafina interacted a lot as they successfully toured the massive promotion for the film around the world throughout 2018.

Now, they are scheduled to reunite through a new Marvel movie titled Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Walt Disney who distributed the film officially announced the list of actors for the film recently where Michelle will play the character of Jiang Nan while Awkwafina will play the character of Katy.

Indirectly, Michelle is now the first Malaysian-born actress to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

In addition to Awkwafina and Michelle, Shang-Chi will also feature Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Tony Leung (Wenwu), Meng’er Zhang (Xialing), Ronny Chieng (Jang Jan), Fala Chen (Jiang Li), and Florian Munteanu ( Razor Fist).

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings movie tell the story of Shang-Chi who is a great martial arts trainer. He had to deal with the story of his long-abandoned past when he was ‘trapped’ in the tactics of a terrorist group known as the Ten Rings.

Regarding the character that will be played by Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina portrays Katy’s character as Shang-Chi’s friend who is ‘thrown’ into the situation without knowing what to do.

Meanwhile, Michelle’s character as Jian Nan has not been explored further.

Previously, Shang-Chi is scheduled to start airing on February 12 in conjunction with a special Chinese New Year date around the world.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shang-Chi had to postpone its release to July 9, 2021.

With the announcement, it marks the beginning of a new Asian martial arts character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe group.

The Shang-Chi character was introduced through Marvel comics starting in 1973 created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin.
