Leak footage of their latest game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) surfaced online, Rockstar Games confirms. More than 90 videos and images from the GTA franchise have reportedly been leaked by a hacker.
Rockstar Games released a statement on their Twitter saying “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our system.”
One of the largest security breaches in history
The hacker, called teapotuberhacker, has leaked information regarding the game source code, assets and testing build. This could be detrimental to Rockstar Games’ business operations.
The hacker put the footage on the GTAForums site. The hacker allegedly obtained the information by breaking into Rockstar’s internal Slack messaging app. He then asked executives to bargain to stop additional disclosures of the game.
The leaks seem to validate a long-running rumor that the game will include the series’ first playable female heroine by showcasing animation testing, level layouts, and some gameplay demonstrations.
They also disclosed the game’s location, a fictionalized version of Miami that served as the backdrop for GTA: Vice City from 2002.
The site removed the footage quickly, but copies of the footage are now widespread. The footage is now on YouTube and Twitter. Rockstar Games has issued orders to take down the leaks.
In their statement, Rockstar Games are “extremely disappointed that their next game is shared in this way.”
“Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations,” they continued.

The highly anticipated game is still in development as confirmed by Rockstar Games earlier this year. The game will be the sequel to the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5).
GTA 5 has sold over 170 million copies since its release in 2013, making it one of the most successful of all time.
