How do you define a Malaysian? Is it the way they speak, dress or behave? Do they have something distinctive to represent them as a nation? As Malaysians, we don’t have a specific answer as our country is diverse in many terms.
However, some aspects are uniquely Malaysian. For example, the food. Nasi lemak, roti canai and teh tarik are Malaysia in a nutshell. It’s one of the factors that strongly connects every race. We believe if people from other countries look down on our delicacies, we might gather and attack them right there and then.
Furthermore, the colourful and multiracial society also is the embodiment of Malaysian society.
If we look at it in a different light, there have to be other aspects that define Malaysians, one of which is things that happen within society. So, if you know some hot tea and spilt gravy of Malaysia, yes, you’re a certified Malaysian.
Yet, we didn’t know this can be a defining factor if you’ll be accepted or rejected in a relationship…
Zaki Hussain posted a video that said a Malaysian girl told him they would never be together because he wasn’t Malaysian enough.
Judging from the video, we think he’s a walking dictionary of Malaysia!
@zakiv4 Ini tanah Melayu
How can the girl lowkey reject him when he knows these popular catchphrases like “Biasa? Maksudnya?” and Saya Anwar Ibrahim sudah dilantik sebagai Perdana Menteri.”
If that isn’t enough, there’s a continuation of the first video.
@zakiv4 Replying to @masterhappyfeet salam lebaran
Although the last one ends with a slight twist, in our eyes, he’s Malay enough to be considered Malay!
Generally, many Malaysians were ‘terhibur’ with his frustration of not being Malay enough.
