With the rise of the internet and social media, influencers have gained the status of celebrities. Instagram, YouTube and TikTok stars that have tens of thousands of fans (or more) are not unusual. But how can influencers make money with such a large fan base?

A person’s influence on the buying habits of their followers is one of the primary ways they make money. Those with a sizable online following are called “influencers”.

They typically monetize their online activity by recommending products and services in exchange for payment.

Over the past decade, thanks to platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, being an “influencer” has become a legitimate career option.

The earnings of influential people with large fan bases might be significantly higher than those of those with standard day-to-day jobs.

How much do influencers earn?

TikTok influencer @erikakullberg recently shared what she earned throughout her multiple social media platforms. She shared what she earned on her TikTok which has over 9 million followers.

In her video, she shows what she earns on her TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Her income varies from platform to platform.

TikTok

For TikTok, she said that she has a total of 452 million views. She earns a few dollars each day which brings her total revenue for that platform is $3255 (RM15, 142).

Facebook

For Facebook, she has 3.3 million followers and since she started in July of this year, she has a total of 3 payouts for her videos. The total amount that she has made so far is $3,071 (RM14,286).

It does not take her a lot of effort to post videos on her Facebook as she takes the video she has made for her TikTok and uploads it on Facebook.

Instagram

Instagram is another story. On her Instagram, she has 4.1 million followers and 263 million views for her videos. So far, she has made nothing on that platform. Instagram only pays some of their followers and only if they have over 1 million followers.

YouTube

Lastly, she has 753k subscribers for her YouTube channel. @erikakullberg explains that YouTube pays depending on whether the video that she posts is short or long.

She continued explaining that for a 29-second short video that she posted that has 1.3 million views only brought in $3 (RM13). However, for a long 12-minute video with 2.3 million views has earned her a whopping $35k (RM144k)! Shocking right?
