Pullman Miri Waterfront just wrapped A Step into Wellness 2.0, and the city showed up bigger than ever. What started with 300 participants last year exploded into 2,260 runners this weekend, turning the Miri Waterfront into a full-on wellness festival.
The two-day event wasn’t just about breaking a sweat. It ended with a meaningful highlight, a RM10,000 donation to Diabetes Malaysia (Miri District Branch), cementing the hotel’s growing role as a community hub and wellness destination.
General Manager Randy Constantine summed it up perfectly:
“It’s more than a run, it’s where business meets leisure, and where the community comes together.”
A Waterfront Takeover: Thousands Running at Sunrise
The event was launched by Counselor Dato’ Victor Lau and Deputy Mayor Tuan Haji Ariffin Bin Mohamad, who flagged off the massive crowd at dawn, joined by runners from across Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei. Corporate teams, casual joggers, fitness buffs… everyone hit the ground running.
Wellness Festival Vibes
Beyond the half-marathon, the weekend featured:
- A wellness, health & fitness exhibition
- Indoor fitness activities
- Kids’ colouring contest
- Local sports clubs in action (including Bulatan Park Runner’s Club & Speed Fitness Miri)
Why It Matters
Pullman Miri Waterfront continues to position itself as:
- Miri’s economic anchor — bringing footfall & tourism to the waterfront
- A wellness destination — with events that energise the city
- A community pillar — giving back through CSR initiatives
“This partnership means so much to us,” said Ting Chiew Moi, Chairman of Diabetes Malaysia Miri District Branch. “These funds directly support our outreach and education programmes.”
