Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Brings Sustainability to Life with Malaysia’s First Shopping Centre EcoHub

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 MAY 2026 — Pavilion Kuala Lumpur believes that sustainability earns its meaning through action. From 5 to 10 May 2026, this belief takes centre stage at Centre Court, where Pavilion Loves Sustainability returns with its most hands-on edition yet — bringing circular economy thinking, responsible textile disposal and everyday sustainability experiences directly to shoppers.

At Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, this year’s campaign marks a significant milestone with the signing of a formal partnership with SWCorp Malaysia and the unveiling of Malaysia’s first shopping centre EcoHub, turning the mall into a live, participatory space for sustainable action.

Through circular economy thinking and responsible textile disposal, shoppers are encouraged to adopt more sustainable habits in simple, everyday ways.

The EcoHub brings this vision to life through three key components:

  1. Waste Technology
Advanced solutions are deployed to make recycling seamless and rewarding. These include Reverse Vending Machines (RVM), where recyclable items such as PET bottles and aluminium cans can be deposited. A Vending Machine (VM) is stationed beside the RVM, allowing users to redeem rewards accumulated through the integrated mobile app ecosystem powered by RVMplus. In addition, sensor-equipped Smart Recycling Bins are provided for paper, plastics and cartons, enabling efficient monitoring and collection optimisation.
  2. Interactive Sustainability Experience
Designed to educate and inspire, the EcoHub features curated content, digital displays, and immersive storytelling elements with continuously refreshed themes to maintain public interest and relevance, encouraging behavioural change towards sustainable practices.
  3. Public Awareness through Thematic Storytelling & Behavioural Change
Beyond static awareness, the EcoHub adopts a dynamic, story-driven approach to influence long- term public behaviour. Through rotating themes, real-life narratives, and visual journeys on waste generation, recycling processes, and environmental impact, the EcoHub connects daily consumer actions to broader sustainability outcomes. This includes showcasing the lifecycle of waste, highlighting national challenges, and promoting responsible consumption habits. By making sustainability relatable and experiential, the EcoHub aims to cultivate a culture of environmental responsibility among shoppers, aligning with national aspirations under circular economy principles and sustainable development goals.

Shoppers who deposit recyclables at the RVM are rewarded with cash-equivalent credits through the RVMplus app ecosystem for each successful disposal, redeemable for merchandise and beverages via the onsite Vending Machine. In doing so, the EcoHub creates a closed-loop experience that connects
individual action to Malaysia’s broader national push towards responsible waste management and circular consumer habits.

Through the advocacy of Upcycle4Better, LifeLine Clothing Malaysia has been introduced as the textile recycling partner for this initiative. As a specialist in textile recovery and recycling, LifeLine Clothing Malaysia is committed to diverting used textiles away from landfills through responsible collection, sorting, and repurposing.

Upcycle4Better clothing donation bins have been installed at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to provide shoppers with accessible drop-off points for unwanted clothing, promoting responsible disposal and extending the life cycle of pre-loved textiles.

“At Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, we see sustainability as an ongoing journey and an important area we hope to continue growing together with our community and partners. Now in its fourth year, Pavilion Loves Sustainability reflects our continued efforts to make sustainability feel more practical, engaging and relevant in everyday life, while bringing together tenants, partners and shoppers in support of more conscious lifestyle choices.” said Puan Nor Rejina Binti Abdul Rahim, Board of Director, Pavilion REIT.

Rounding out the campaign is a series of sustainability-themed displays, booths and workshops spread across Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, where participating brands bring conscious living to life through hands-on experiences spanning sustainable beauty, conscious fashion, upcycling and DIY workshops.

At Centre Court, Level 2, shoppers can look forward to a full week of activations, with workshops and
giveaways:

  • National Geographic — Pot a Plant workshop on Thursday, 7 May and Friday, 8 May (12:30 – 2:30PM)
  • LUSH — Multi-sensory workshop on Friday, 8 May (11AM – 12PM).

  • Dr. Hauschka — “For You. From Earth” giveaway on Thursday, 7 May and Friday, 8 May
  • Dome, Maybank and Pavilion Hotel – Sustainability-focused booths showcasing each brand’s commitments and initiatives towards a more responsible future

At the Spanish Steps, shoppers can explore a curated trail of sustainability-focused displays by L’Occitane, GANNI (Club 21), Mulberry, Aveda, Kiehl’s, Lancôme, Royal Selangor, Bonia, Aēsop and VIVAIA — each reflecting their commitment to more responsible practices across beauty, fragrance and fashion.

Adding a creative dimension to the trail, Taylor’s University in collaboration with Upcycle4Better presents a standout display of student-led upcycled creations made from pre-owned Converse apparel, giving discarded pieces a second life and a fresh canvas for creativity.

The campaign weekend extends beyond sustainability activities with two special events. On Saturday, 9 May, the Malaysia Singer 2026 will be hosting their Grand Launch Showcase at 2PM.

The following day, Sunday, 10 May, at 4:30PM, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur welcomes a meet-and-greet with Fan Bing Bing, star of Mother Bhumi – a nature-focused drama centred on the relationship between humans, the land and rural life, whose themes of environmental stewardship resonate closely with the spirit of Pavilion Loves Sustainability 2026.

In line with Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s shopper-first approach, the campaign also extends into mall-wide rewards and Pavilion Privileges member exclusives. Highlights include National Geographic Tote Bag redemptions for single receipts of RM800 or more, from 5 to 31 May. Additionally, Pavilion Privileges members on the Lifestyle Tier and above can enjoy a complimentary Montigo 32oz Ace Bottle Mega for every RM1,500 spent in a single receipt at specialty stores, from 5 to 10 May.

Through Pavilion Loves Sustainability 2026, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur continues to reimagine how retail spaces can inspire more conscious lifestyles through accessible, community-driven experiences.
