Cologne, May 15, 2026: RIMOWA is delighted to announce the highly anticipated opening of the new flagship store in its hometown of Cologne, Germany. Returning to its historical location in the heart of the city, close to RIMOWA’s first workshop from 1898, the store spans close to 500 square meters, and is situated next to the soaring “Kölner Dom.”
Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion and RIMOWA global brand ambassador Sir Lewis Hamilton made a special appearance in Cologne to celebrate the opening and pay homage to the Maison’s roots.
Nestled in Cologne’s newly opened Dom-Carré, a pre-eminent luxury retail and hospitality destination, the boutique’s façade retains the building’s historic character while incorporating RIMOWA’s distinctive design elements, creating a seamless balance between heritage and modernity. Designed in close collaboration with the renowned local creative studio Meiré & Meiré, whose contribution was instrumental in shaping the store’s architectural identity, clients enter through a majestic colonnade area displaying some of RIMOWA’s most important designs.
In a nod to the green parakeets that grace Cologne’s skies, animated flocks of these beloved rose-ringed birds fly through the entrance. Extending across two floors, the boutique features a monumental staircase and elevator in Cologne’s signature “Brückengrün” – a specially developed patina-green hue found across the city’s bridges.
A unique heritage wall situated on the ground floor, showcasing pieces from RIMOWA’s archives. The display spans from early 20th-century wardrobe trunks to the Maison’s latest collaborations, each object embodying the meticulous craftsmanship, ingenuity, and spirit of innovation that have defined RIMOWA since its founding.
On the first floor, a dedicated in-store client care centre offers expert repairs. Underpinning the German Maison’s commitment to durability, all RIMOWA suitcases purchased from July 25, 2022 come with a lifetime guarantee.

Offered exclusively at the German Maison’s Cologne boutique, within its mezzanine-level atelier, the “Crafted-for-You” programme invites clients to define the precise size and proportions of their RIMOWA Classic case and adapt many details to their unique travel and storage needs.
For the very first ‘Crafted- for -You’ piece, RIMOWA created a bespoke vinyl case for its global ambassador Lewis Hamilton, reflecting both his passion for music and the Maison’s dedication to refined craftsmanship. Rooted in RIMOWA’s origins as a made-to- order workshop, ‘Crafted-for-You’ pieces are exclusively built in the German Maison’s historic Cologne factory and celebrate engineering ingenuity.
From monogrammed initials to a curated selection of leathers, linings, colours, and finishes, the programme offers more than one million possible combinations on RIMOWA’s Classic aluminium cases in Silver – each one an invitation to craft a truly singular travel companion.
